OCR2026 WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Please read this waiver carefully before accepting. By selecting "I Accept", you agree to be legally bound by its terms.
I understand that participating in a long-distance running event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Slips, falls, collisions with other participants, spectators, or vehicles. Weather-related conditions such as heat, humidity, rain, or poor visibility. Physical exertion that may result in dehydration, fatigue, injury, illness, disability, or, in rare circumstances, death. Other related hazards associated with running on public roads or designated routes.
I certify that I am physically fit, that I trained adequately for this event, and that I am medically capable of participating in the event. I understand that it is my responsibility to consult a medical professional if I have any concerns regarding my health or ability to participate.
I agree to voluntarily discontinue participation immediately if I experience any condition that may endanger my health or the safety of other participants.
I authorize the event organizers to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf if I am unable to provide consent. I understand that I am responsible for any medical expenses incurred other than an expense on first aid treatment.
I agree to follow all event rules, designated routes, instructions from race instructors, volunteers, medical personnel, and law enforcement. I understand that failure to comply with safety instructions may result in my removal from the event without refund.
To the fullest extent permitted by the applicable laws, I release, waive, and discharge the event organizers, sponsors, partners, volunteers, contractors, service providers, venue owners, local authorities, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives from any claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising out of or connected with my participation in the event, including personal injuries, illness, property damage, disability, or death, except where such loss results directly from gross negligence or willful misconduct by the event organisers.
I grant the event organizers and their authorized partners and personnel the unrestricted right to photograph, film, record, or otherwise capture my participation during the event. I authorize the use of my name, image, likeness, voice, and race results for promotional, educational, fundraising, marketing, and reporting purposes in any media now known or later developed, without further notice or compensation.
I understand that I am solely responsible for my personal belongings. The event organizers accept no responsibility for any lost, stolen, or damaged property before, during, or after the event.
The organizers reserve the right to postpone, modify, shorten, reroute, suspend, or cancel the event due to severe weather, public health concerns, logistics, non-approval by the appropriate regulatory body, government directives, security issues, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond the control of the event organizers. In such circumstances, registered prospective participants shall be subject to a full refund on fees and donations made towards the event.
I consent to the collection, processing, storage, and use of my personal information solely for purposes related to event registration, coordination, safety and emergency response, participant communication, timing, publication of race results, and post-event reporting. My personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws of The Federal Republic of Nigeria.
By completing my registration and selecting "I Agree", I confirm that:
I have carefully read and fully understood this Waiver and Release of Liability. I understand that I am giving up certain legal rights by accepting these terms. I am of legal age, and that I participate in OCR2026 voluntarily and entirely at my risk. The information I have provided during registration is true and accurate. My electronic acceptance of this waiver has the same legal effect as my handwritten signature.
